SalzburgerLand

Slow down in SalzburgerLand

A break in Salzburg’s Lungau

Salzburg’s Lungau, whose 15 picturesque villages all lie at 1,000 metres or more above sea level, is not just Austria’s sunniest region, it is also worthy of mention in the same breath as Yellowstone Park and the Galapagos Islands. The Lungau’s sublime scenery has been placed under special protection and designated the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburg Lungau & Carinthian Nockberge. Visitors can still look forward to an incomparable holiday experience here – in the mountains, by the incredibly beautiful lakes, with traditional customs that are still alive today and creative people who have never forgotten their roots.

What could be nicer than resting by the shores of a Lungau mountain lake or simply letting the countryside’s peace and quiet work its magic? You’ve come to the perfect place – the most southerly part of the Salzburger Land is ideal for resting, relaxing and lingering to experience what the region has to offer.

The Salzburg Lungau is known as Austria’s sunniest region, with good reason; its position between the Radfstadt Tauern and Carinthia’s Nockberge ensures that this unique region is protected from the wind, is hardly ever foggy and the air and water are of the highest quality. The superior quality of life is evident in every blade of grass and child’s smile. Love of the region and its natural produce is also evident in the specialities and delicacies which delight gourmets’ every sense.
