Essentials:

The Green Ring is the unhurried summer variant of the legendary “White Ring“ ski circuit. This three-day hiking trail is enriched by a literary hiking guide, authored by Daniela Egger, and pleasant landscape installations by Tyrol-based artist Daniel Nikolaus Kocher. Together with the Vorarlberg writer, we take a stroll on the Green Ring and listen to her, as she tells us the story behind the legends and installations. Daniela Egger has designed this trail together with the sculptor Daniel Nikolaus Kocher and has authored a literary hiking guide full of charming wit and humour. She lives in Bregenz and writes stories, plays and film scripts.

Background:

In our holiday resorts, the living space of the residents and the adventure space of our guests are one. Touristic activity spaces therefore need to be carefully matched to the local environment. For the summer season, Lech Zürs has realised a creative programme which involves many contributors and artists on-site: unpretentious, thought-stimulating, with always fresh momentum.

Apart from a magnificent nature experience and fabulous views of the mountains around Lech Zürs, the three hiking routes provide an insightful understanding of modern myths and legends. The hiking book entitled “A Samurai at Kriegerhorn“ features contemporary legends and stories about mythical figures from the region, such as mountain trolls and witches. There is a story at every of the 36 stations along the Green Ring. At Pazüelmähder (the first leg of the Green Ring) hikers will come across an inviting lodge library.

At mystery-shrouded Lake Libelle, hikers will encounter “weird birds and crazy insects“, and the trail across the Zug mystery forest (3rd leg of the Green Ring) is lined by wooden sculptures. Legend has it that these stem from the “lewd forays of the decadent and hedonistic night folk of Zug.

Meanwhile, the Green Ring has been growing: The Green Riddle Ring is a riddle hike for families with children. Again it is Daniela Egger who drafted the worksheet, and Daniel Nikolaus Kocher who designed the stations of the riddle.
